About Dr. Michelle Feder
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
My name is Michelle Feder, Psy.D. and I am a licensed clinical psychologist, practicing virtually in New York, New Jersey, and Florida. I specialize in the treatment of OCD and OCD-related disorders, including unhelpful perfectionism, hair pulling/skin picking, and body-dysmorphic disorder. I also have expertise in working with adults with ADHD and executive functioning difficulties. Finally, I work extensively with individuals with anxiety, depression, and emotion regulation difficulties.
I approach treatment using evidence-based cognitive-behavioral therapies (CBT), including exposure and response prevention (ERP), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)-informed treatment.
I believe in working flexibly and collaboratively to help people achieve their goals and live satisfying, meaningful lives. I approach treatment with warmth, openness, and compassion.
Education and Training
I earned my B.A. from Columbia College, Columbia University with a major in Psychology. I earned my Psy.D from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Yeshiva University and was awarded the Jeffrey Sage Memorial Award for Excellence in Clinical Psychology.
My research interests include enhancing and validating CBT interventions for OCD, including ERP and ACT. My doctoral research focused on evaluating the impact of a values articulation exercise on willingness to try ERP among individuals with OCD who did not have prior experience with ERP.
I completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at CBT for Better Living where I gained specialization in the treatment of OCD and anxiety disorders. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at Zucker Hillside Hospital, Northwell Health where I practiced several specialized cognitive-behavioral therapies, including CBT for psychosis, recovery-oriented cognitive therapy (CT-R), DBT, and mindfulness-based approaches.
I also gained extensive training in CBT at New York Presbyterian-Westchester Division, NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens, Zucker Hillside Hospital’s OCD Center and Bipolar Disorder Center. Throughout my training, I have worked with teens and adults with a range of diagnoses, life challenges, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
I am currently an adjunct clinical supervisor at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, where I provide CBT supervision for doctoral students.
